SURGICAL FIRST ASSISTANT I

This course is for Certified Surgical Technologists who will assume the expanded role of the first assistant in surgery. Course content consists of surgical anatomy and first assistant techniques in a variety of surgical specialties such as general, orthopedic, peripheral vascular, endoscopic, pediatric, neurosurgical, hand, podiatry, plastic and reconstructive, ob-gyn, thoracic, genitourinary, trauma, transplant, oral, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmic, cardiovascular, etc. Wound care and potential surgical complications are included. Clinical required. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required. Minimum of two years of operating room experience in the scrub role within the last four years. Division approval. (IN1, IN2, IN4)
