NALP 113 - Medical Coding - Physician Office

Students are required to have internet access to complete this course. This blended course will require students to be on campus for lecture and discussion. Required assignments and tests will be accessed and completed through the ANGEL system (LCCC's on-line/distance learning program). This course is an in-depth study and review of current year CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 9th Edition, Clinical Modification) and HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System). Students will learn the current procedural and diagnosis coding system used by physicians. Students will have practice scenarios and several exams. This course will prepare the student to pass either the AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) or AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) CCS-P professional examinations. The objective of the course is to provide the student with a solid foundation in coding principles and to teach them to use the coding manuals properly. Medical terminology and basic anatomy coursework is recommended. Upon satisfactory completion of this course, students will have obtained a superior level of medical coding. Students will schedule the exam of their choice at their convenience. Information on scheduling exams will be provided by the instructor. NEMS 150 - CPR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER

This CPR course follows the American Heart Association guidelines and is for healthcare providers and other professional rescuers, as well as laypersons seeking infant, child and adult CPR certification. Students are required to purchase, read and bring to class the BLS for Healthcare Provider textbook (current version). Textbook is available for purchase in the LCCC Bookstore. The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose.
