NEMS 150 - CPR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER

This CPR course follows the American Heart Association guidelines and is for healthcare providers and other professional rescuers, as well as laypersons seeking infant, child and adult CPR certification. Students are required to purchase, read and bring to class the BLS for Healthcare Provider textbook (current version). Textbook is available for purchase in the LCCC Bookstore. The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association and any fees charged for such a course do not represent income to the association.

NEMS 151 - RECERT CPR HEALTHCARE PRO

This course is for individuals seeking to renew CPR Healthcare Provider status (if your Healthcare Provider card is expired, you must take the BLS for Healthcare Provider class, NEMS 150). This course follows the American Heart Association guidelines. Students are required to read material in the BLS for Healthcare Provider textbook (current version) prior to class. NEMS 250 - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

This American Heart Association course is intended for: physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, staff in intensive-care units and emergency or critical-care departments and other professionals who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency. The ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology. Skills are taught in large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. This course covers: ACLS algorithms, immediate post-cardiac-arrest care, airway management, rhythm recognition, high-quality CPR, 1-rescuer CPR AED, effective resuscitation team dynamics, science overview (update course), BLS and ACLS surveys, ACS, Megacode treatment, identification and initial care of other life-threatening clinical situations (such as stroke). Students must pass a written exam and skills test in order to qualify for an ACLS Provider Course Completion Card. Students must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider card ' please bring your card to the first day of class. NEMS 255 - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

This training is intended for the following professionals: pediatricians; emergency room, family and other physicians; physician assistants; nurses and nurse practitioners; paramedics; intensive care and critical care providers; other providers required to initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies. This 14-hour American Heart Association course is designed to provide pediatric healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children and help improve outcomes. A current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider card is required ' please bring your card to class. Students are also required to purchase, review and bring to class the current PALS Provider Manual/Course Guide.
